Blogs to Share

Brenda over at Stamp. Scrap. Create. honored me with two Blog Awards last week. I pondered all week and have decided on who to pass these awards onto. It was so hard. I love visiting blogs. I follow quite a few and am constantly amazed at the talent all of you have. I'm not an artist or graphic designer, I just get inspired from everything that is shared in blogland and I thank each and everyone of you for that. Please visit Stamp. Scrap. Create. , Brenda is so creative and posts over the top cute, creations just about every day!

The first award is the Liebster Award.
Liebster is German for "beloved" or "favorite." The creator of this award wishes for it to be bestowed to five worthy people whose blogs have fewer than 200 followers--as a way to acknowledge creativity while promoting an increase in blog traffic. The rules of acceptance are as follows: See all my gushing happiness about receiving this award here!
In receiving this award, here is the list to follow:

1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
2. Reveal your top 5 picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
3. Copy and paste the award on your blog.
4. Have faith that your followers will spread the love to other bloggers.
5. And most of all - have fun!

It is now time for me to do #2: Reveal my top 5 picks:

Gr8scraps - Tracey has been posting amazing creations lately, all made with Close to My Heart's Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. AND posting the tutorials. The vision and creativity Tracey has blows me away!
Sheila's Stamping Stuff - Sheila's blog is full of great ideas. I love how she has the names of paper packs along with the name of stamp sets in label list. WoW--if your stumped--this is the place to go! Hmm--maybe I'll start doing this--it might help me remember what stamps I own!
Stamping Rules - I recently started following this blog. Wendy has great ideas her blog is fun and bright. Plus--I just love the name she came up with for her blog!
Good Golly, Miss Molly - I've been a follower of Miss Molly's for some time now. I know when I see a post from her on the CTMH bulletin board, it is going to be a good one! I always love her layouts, right now she has a a fantastic post showing her talent playing with paper!
Amy's Art from the Heart - I just love Amy's style. Crisp and clean! Every thing she creates is cute, cute. Visit this blog and get inspired!

The Cute as a Button Award is an award that Brenda herself started and passes out just one each month. I was so touched when I found that she also gave this award to me. I now get to pass it on to just one fellow blogger. I'm passing this to Becky at Scrappin' Becky B. I've been a follower of Becky's for awhile now. Her blog is definitely "cute as a button". She not only shares her card and layout creations, but all sorts of home decorating crafts AND scrumptious recipes. She has inspired and encouraged me in so many ways. Thank you Becky for being such a great blogging friend!

Blog Awards!

You could knock me over with a feather right now! I have been blessed with two awards from the super, sweet blogger Brenda Frerichs who is the amazing crafter and owner of the beautiful blog Stamp, Scrap, Create. I get inspired every time I visit Brenda's blog, she is uber talented!

The first award is called the Liebster Award. Liebster is German for "beloved" or "favorite." The creator of this award wishes for it to be bestowed to five worthy people whose blogs have fewer than 200 followers--as a way to acknowledge creativity while promoting an increase in blog traffic. The rules of acceptance are as follows:

Thank you Brenda! There are so many blogs out there, I'm touched to the core that you have bestowed me with these awards! And I'm feeling like such a bad blogger right now, something is wrong with my good camera, and our old camera just doesn't take good photos. I'll get to work though and take pictures with it anyway to share some of the work I've completed.

I have had a very long, hard day. To pick 5 blogs is overwhelming! I'll have to get a good nights sleep and go on a nice jog with the dog in the early morning--that is when I do my best thinking!

The second blog award is Brenda's very own award that she created. This is her way of sharing blogs that she has found and enjoys visiting. Brenda, I so hope I can make it to convention so we can actually meet! You are the best!
I'm also allowed to pass this onto one other blogger. OH--I better make that an extra long run tomorrow! I have lots of thinkin' to do!

Thank you for such a wonderful gift Brenda.

Happy Happy!

This Happy, Happy, Happy card was made with the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge. The patterned paper is from the retired Caboodle pack.

So, I have to tell you, the creation of this card was a happy accident! My original idea was to paste the body only of the small blue butterfly onto the sorbet butterfly on the inside of the card. The wings are folded up and it adds dimension to the front of the card. I used the tiniest drop of Liquid Glass on the body of that butterfly and pasted it down. When I then opened the card, that butterfly was actually stuck to the front of the card instead of the inside!

I don't know how or where it was stuck to the front of the card, but it wasn't going to stay there for long! So I added a small strip through the cutout, and glued the butterfly to that.

Don't you just love it when mistakes turn into masterpieces?!
Inspiration for this card came from Terese on her blog Lost in Paper.

OH-NO

I'm heart broken--feel lost--a part of me is broken; our camera has had it. For awhile now, I've had to squeeze one corner of the camera, because it is missing two screws on one side. On Sunday, I went to take a picture of a completed layout--and the lens is jammed--or something. It has been a good little camera, I'm going to try to find a camera shop to see what the cost would be to get this one working. In the meantime, we do have another digital camera--but it doesn't take indoor pictures well at all. So--here's hoping for sunny days, so I can take pictures outside!
I have so much to show you all!

Saturday Scrap It Girl Challenge #3

Scrap it Gril's Challenge # 3 is to use either canvas, burlap or material on your layout. Sketches, page maps, kits or digital images are not allowed. I'm a judge this week! So my entry doesn't count, but I liked the idea of using material, so here is mine.

A very simple layout, but here are things that make me happy when scrapping;
1. Coming up with my own design.
2. Using paper that I don't normally use, in this case it is the color Ocean. Although it is a Close to My Heart retired color, it is a pretty blue but I just never reached for it very often.
3. I took a total of 49 pictures this one weekend. I love it when I can get the whole story of pictures onto one two page layout! This layout has three different events on it that happened over the course of the weekend. On the left side, I separated out two different events, by changing the color of the background. Sometimes the only way to get a bunch of pictures on a page is to do without matting the photos. I thought that the Outdoor Demin color was perfect behind the graduation photos on the right side, so I wasn't concerned with matting them. The journal box took some time to get right, but I like the way it is framing the one picture. (click on picture to see it larger).

I'm not a seamstress, I have to admit, I bought some fabric straps that were already stitched and gathered. I added it to the top of the layouts, believe it or not I have a layout with 11 pictures on it and I still had room to add extra embellishing. The buttons in the lower right corner of left page are actually tops of tacks. I cut of the sharp tack part to just use the colorful top!

Nothing fancy here! That is why I like the Scrap-It-Girl's challenges so much! I got pictures scrapped from 2009--WooHoo!
