Cookie Transportation

"There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found."

For me, the magic is in an Oatmeal container! I love oatmeal, I eat it every morning for breakfast. And I LOVE oatmeal containers. While I'm eating my oatmeal, I often stare at that fun cylinder receptacle and think of things I can make out of it. Here is a simple ribbon organizer I made awhile back.

My grandmother use to bring us sugar cookies whenever she visited. Her way of transportation was on old coffee can lined with wax paper. That is where I came up with this idea for the oatmeal container.

I was pretty happy with the way they turned out. 

They were fast and easy to create.

Some will be delivered to neighbors, filled with my Grandma's Sugar Cookies!

And I will use one to transport cookies when I head back to KC for Christmas!

Snowman Jar

Awhile back I found a blog that I just fell in love with, Creative Breathing. All vintage, all beautiful colors, all over the top cute--go check it out!

In that particular link that I directed you to, I was inspired by the snowmen she made with Styrofoam balls and glass jars. Here is what I came up with!

I created the hat with a toilet paper roll and covered it with black cardstock.

The eyes and mouth pieces are just made from a hole punch. After I glued them on the Styrofoam, I added liquid glass to them. The nose is a brad.

 They are filled with white peppermint candy. (Life Savers)

Creative Vision Stamps

A few weeks ago I won a gift certificate from Creative Vision. I received my stamps this week and had so much fun creating with them! I just love the Jingle Jangle stamp set, with the cute Santa and reindeer. It also has super cute and funny sentiments to go along with them.


On this tag, I popped Santa's head up and put Fun Flock on his beard and trim. I get a good little chuckle whenever I look at him!

The reindeer card is made with all sorts of shapes from the Close to My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. (I use this cartridge for just about every project I do now!)
Don't ya just love the bewildered look on that reindeer's face? I'm pretty sure I get the same look when putting lights on our Christmas tree! Red Glitter Glue was used on the lights around that poor reindeer to help make them pop. The sentiment just cracks me up. I think "Don't get your Jingle in a Jangle" is going to be my catch phrase this holiday season. I have had those little jingle bells in my stash for years. When I first saw this stamp set, I immediately knew- I now had a good use for those bells! (click on the image to see it bigger)

Gift Tags

I got this idea from Becky over at Inking Idaho.

They were super easy and fast to make.
I used the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge for the pockets,<Rctngl1>card (pg 43) and <Rctngle2>card (pg 54) cut at 5”, then just folded the card and glued down bottom and right side. There is a tutorial on Inking Idaho and since I still don’t have a worthy camera, I’m not going to re-create it here

All supplies used were from Close to My Heart. All the paper packs used here are now retired. The Christmas tree and the snowman on the red and green are from a retired stamp set called Merry Christmas Blocks. This has always been a favorite of mine. Another all time favorite stamp set was used for the other snowman, All Decked Out. He is paper pieced with the Aspen Paper Pack. The Cricut Art Philosophy was used to cut the scalloped squares and circle. The Christmas ornament, oval and decorative square beneath the oval are all cut with the Art Philosophy cartridge too.
I’ll be receiving an order this week from Close to My Heart, I’m expecting Christmas stamps and both the holiday paper packs! The possibilities are endless with this cute pocket and tag! I will be making more when my order gets here!

Chirstmas 2008 is Done!

I finally finished scrapping Christmas of '08! If it is a year that we travel to KC for Christmas, I end up with tons of pictures because there are so many events to record! Therefore, I usually have multiple 2-page spreads for this holiday! That is why scrapping Christmas always gets pushed aside for something else! I posted a Christmas 2008 layout a few weeks ago--that was just up to Christmas Eve! So here is the rest of the story!

4x6 inch Flip Flaps were used on the 27th to help me get even more pictures into the story. Since I tend to load the layouts with pictures, there isn't much in the way of embellishments. There isn't even much journaling, I think the fun and happiness comes across in the pictures, and that is what the story is all about here!

Lovin' Sky, Pear and Holiday Red

With the help of Mojo Monday and Close to My Heart's exclusive color palette I whipped out a few more Christmas cards!
The first one is following Mojo Monday 168. I used a Cuttlebug folder for the snowy background.
Close to My Heart Products used:
-Stamp Set: Snow Friends and Festive Thoughts (retired)
-Cardstock: Sky, Pear, White Daisy
-The hat was paper pieced with (very) old and retired Background and Texture paper in Holiday Red.
-Inks: Sky, Pear, Brown Bag, Smoothie
-Blending Pen--used to apply Smoothie to nose and heart.
-Sparkles for buttons
-Miscellaneous: ribbon

My next card was inspired by Mojo Monday 167.
Cuttlebug folders were used again for the background pieces. Martha Stewart punch was used for the snowflakes and then they were sprayed with Glimmer Mist.
Close to My Heart products used are the same inks and paper as in first card and:
-Stamp set: Just for the Holidays
-Sparkles (blue and green assortment)
-Pearl Opaques


This card is from the Mojo Monday 166 sketch. All paper and inks as in previous cards but this card also used Exclusive Inks, Sunny Yellow and New England Ivy. To get the tree 2-toned I stamped the tree with New England Ivy onto Pear Cardstock and then again onto the retired Kiwi card stock. I cut with the incredible Micro-Tip Scissors that Close to My Heart carries, then popped up with Foam Tape the Pear part up.
Stamp set: Holiday Warmth and Peace on Earth
Both Blue and Red Sparkles were used.
Miscellaneous ribbon and the Nestabilities Labels Eight were also used.


The last card is Mojo Monday 165.
Stamp set: I Believe
Black stamp pad for Santa.
Cranberry Grosgrain Ribbon was used on this card.
The bling used here is something I have had around for ever and Nestabilities Labels Eight was also used.

So--there ya go! I think I need to start sending out Christmas cards! It is going to be hard getting to my blog the rest of the week, we have events every night from here till Sunday. Merry, Merry!!

Gingerbread House

Oh--how time flies! We were out of town for a week over Thanksgiving, then I frantically prepared for the "Little Gift Workshop". (which was a blast by the way!) Feeling much more relaxed and hoping to be a better blogger!
I just wanted to share this cute Gingerbread House I made with the Around the Block (D1377) stamp set. The gumdrops were made with a stamp from an old CTMH stamp set, Whoops A Daisy. There is a stamp in this set that is used for the center of a flower. I always thought it looked like a gumdrop, and I finally got to use it for that! The inspiration for this house came from Close to My Heart founder, Jeanette Lynton's, blog and her Halloween house.

Not Just a Box

Last year a cute box/drawer/card was shared on the Close to My Heart bulletin board. I wish I had the name of who I got the original instructions from because she really inspired me! The original box was too small to hold a gift card so I took that idea and changed the dimensions.I'll be placing the gift card on a bed of red and green M&M's! This is one of the projects offered in my Christmas Gift Workshop being held December 3rd.

Christmas Card Workshop

Nothing is nicer than receiving a handmade Christmas card! We will use the Mistletoe Level 1 paper pack and some fun embellishments to create 12 beautiful Christmas cards. You will have enough paper to make more cards, but we will only have time to complete 12 during the workshop. (you will receive 15 envelopes)

Merry Christmas

This has been a wonderful Christmas. Well, Brian has a pretty bad cold, so I don't know if he would label it wonderful. I got everything done by the 23rd. So the 24th I was able to relax and have fun with Marek. I took him and a friend sledding then came home and did some Christmas baking. Brian took a nap late in the afternoon while Marek and I decorated cookies, sang Christmas carols and played a couple games of Sequence. We then had an easy dinner of soup, then watched Polar Express. I was surprised when I wasn't woken up by 7:00 this morning. It turns out, Marek was up between 3:00-4:30 a.m., checking out the gifts that came, watching some Star Trek and also played a few X-box games! He went back to bed and didn't wake up until 7:30!
